GUIDING IDEA: BUILDING MASTER LEARNERS.
Students continue to learn new skills, knowledge and attributes, but they also begin to learn the specific formal ways in which they need to demonstrate these things in the senior school context. An emphasis is placed upon encouraging students to be independent, self-managing, but also collaborative learners. Specific skills that assist students in becoming highly skilled at responding to formal assessment formats, particularly exams, are a focus of learning. Other skills and attributes that relate to management of the physical and mental self are also considered. Specific environments that are simultaneously supportive of and conducive to high level academic performance, whilst at the same time being protective of student welfare are a hallmark of this learning community.
YEAR 10 SEAL PROGRAM
The Year 10 SEAL curriculum is designed as a continuation of the Year 7 and 8 SEAL curriculum wherein the 7-10 curriculum is condensed into a 3-year program and students are provided with:
- a faster-paced curriculum which is non-repetitive;
- the opportunity to work with more abstract, complex and in-depth course material; and
- a learning environment which emphasises working co-operatively with students of similar abilities and interests.

VCE ACCELERATION FOR YEAR 10 STUDENTS
Selected students will be offered the opportunity to undertake a VCE Unit 1 and 2 elective as part of their Year 10 program. After consideration of students’ performance in Semester 1, decisions will be made regarding offers. A small number of second-round students will be made prior to the commencement program for students who have performed at a consistently high standard during Semester 2.
