International Students Program
Brighton Secondary College is situated in Brighton East, a beautiful bayside suburb located 10 Km from the city of Melbourne. Transport to the college is easy by train, tram or bus. Brighton Secondary College recognises and values the contribution international students make to the life of the school. The College has a first rate program for its international students, attracting a large number of students from countries including China, Japan, Germany, South Africa, and Italy.

Academic Success
We have an excellent reputation with a very high retention rate into the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). The college enjoys strong academic success, with the majority of our students successfully entering tertiary education, including the universities of Melbourne, Monash, Swinburne and RMIT.

English Language Centre
An English Language Centre operates on site to cater for our International students. We offer a tailored course to suit the needs of students entering VCE through our Pre VCE program and small ESL classes at all levels

Curriculum Choice
Students have a wide range of subject choice from the eight Key Learning Areas. In 2008 the College is offering 30 VCE subjects. The college emphasizes access to technology in all subject areas. The timetable is structured to allow the acceleration of students to higher levels of learning.

Student Support
The College has a dedicated team, headed by Linda Ward, Assistant Principal, that assists international students with their orientation process. We recognise that International students have differing needs and require support to enable them to be settled and happy. Jessica Luong is our multicultural aide

Instrumental music
The College offers an extensive instrumental music program and has a number of bands to cater for different musical interests. The instruments taught are strings, woodwinds, piano, brass and percussion.

Camps and Excursions
International students are encouraged to join in the range of camps and excursions that are run by the college. Most are paid for by the college to encourage International students to attend and make new friends.

Extra-curricular activities
International students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities including house activities, chorals, sport and athletics, instrumental music, college drama and musical productions, camps and excursions and debating.

Homestays
Accommodation is found for all International students with families in the Bayside areas close to the college. All families are chosen by the college and we keep in close contact with the students at their homestay.

Student Welfare
The college creates a safe and harmonious environment for the students who come from a wide range of countries through its management of student discipline and welfare. There is a range of people to cater for the welfare needs of the students. They include a Student Welfare Coordinator, Careers Teacher, Year Level Coordinators and Form Teachers.

Facilities
The college has a dedicated International Students' room with sophisticated computer facilities.
