Julie Podbury - Principal
Julie Podbury has worked as a Principal, school executive and classroom teacher for over 30 years. In 2012 Julie celebrates 16 years as Principal of Brighton Secondary College. In this role, she has overseen BSC’s re-emergence as a recognised leading government secondary college of over 1200 students.
Under Julie Podbury’s leadership, the College has introduced a number of innovative programs – the Government-accredited Select Entry Accelerated Learning Program, a highly regarded International Student Program, a year 9 learning program and support facility – and upgraded sporting and learning facilities. As a result, the school population has doubled since 2000.
Julie’s efforts to strengthen the College’s reputation have been recognised. In 2010, she was awarded a Fellowship of Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) Victoria in recognition of her work in the Victorian education community. Julie has been a finalist in the Victorian Education Excellence Awards for outstanding school leadership and is a past nominee for Telstra Businesswoman of the Year. As well, Julie has actively worked as a mentor for new Principals.
